I could not help smiling when i accidentally browsed this website. It was only a few days ago i reiterated the need for a website like this, when we suddenly lost two old boys Alex Ukah (81′) to ill health and another AGM of Citi Bank nigeria, who lost his life a day before departing for the USA.The class of 81& 82 seems to loose members tragically in multiples.I pray this never happens again and our sympaties to the bereaved families Let me sincerely thak the originators for a job well done and i hope we can rally round to use all the ICCOBA resources we have in the IT world to accomplish the best website in college reunion. I belive we can adapt the website to serve most of the purpose people have commented on so far. I remeber attending my first old boys meeting just under a year after leaving ICC.The likes of Mr Emma Woghiren,Victor Aimiuwu,EJS Uujanhan, Tony Osagie,Victor Osarenren,Barrister Asemota and Mr Aburime made me so comfortable despite the fact some of them actually left ICC when i was barely an infant. That welcome must always be extended to the younger ones. It would be nice to get Kingsley Uyi Idehen (Openlink Software Burlinghton,MA) on board and thanks for the link to the Johns, they are part of the family.I would welcome all invitations to the next meeting and an opportunity to have a local New England Chapter, please send all the relevant information

Greetings, old boys! Reading through the comments, I found that all the respondents were all …. well aged boys! No disrespect intended but where are the young men who passed out of the school in the 90s? I am happy ICC is being refurbished, it’ll be very nice to visit and see the school in all it’s glory. By the way as I spent a few years at Edo college, Dr Dan Selo-Ojeme should take it easy… this is an old school boys association, not the CIA, small boys indeed!! Greetings from Dublin and good luck.

First and foremost , I want to sincerely commend the initiator of this laudable project and also great kudos to Tunde Obazee for this wonderful website . I am the coordinator general of ICCOBA class of 1992, I am now in Norway where i am taking a masters degree in petroleum engineering. I want to quickly observe some few things and make my own comments. I carefully observed that this project has been confined to United States affairs because as i run through the membership list i found that most of the members are based in the states.I want to suggest that this movement should not be localize. In the class of 92, we also have our website which we are using to trace & track our classmates, this is temporary because we are consolidating , after this period of consolidation , we shall dismantle it and join forces with other progressives in this website . I also know that some other sets may have similar websites. But I want to advocate for one general website , which is this one setup by our brother Tunde Obazee. I have something against the name of the website , I dont know the rationale behind why it should bear dot com, are we a profit oriented group ? I suggest that it should bear dot org , Mr Obazee please take note. As I browse through the comments made by other people , I saw a lot of good things said about Mr and Mrs John , though I didnt have the privilege to me them personally, but I heard alot of good things about them. But I want us to remember Dr Itotoh , who laboured seriously to make sure the school remain on the path of excellence. Other members of staff such as Mr Oviasu, Mr Iyahen, Mr Okafor( the typist ) , Mr Ikediashi etc should also be acknowledged . I will like to stop so far.I shall be back next time with more comments and observations . Sincerely yours, ONABOR

I congratulate the old boys who developed this website. Iccoba is always blazing the trail for others to follow. However, we do not say that a king has made a mistake; we only say o!father, it will be nice if you can reconsider your decision. I also appreciate the fact that it is not easy to take a lead in the new order of things. I do not want to believe that this website is for old boys in the United States but, a glance at the members list will exhibit my concern. Mr. Emma Omo Irabor has said it all in respect of the members list. I believe that there are always some ants in the forests inhabited by elephants. In a nutshell, a review of the members list is long overdue. Once more, congratulations on ICCOBA website development. Best regards, Dave Wilkie [email protected] +234 08052050339; 053-323244

The October 2004 meeting hosted by Dr Ekunwe in Jackson MS was meaningful and the accomplishment was significant. We want to build on that. The attendance was low considering that we have over a hundred ICCOBITES in the United States. I challenge all ICCOBITES in the U.S.A., Canada & Mexico to register and become full members for a very good cuase. If you are unable to attend due to scheduling, I encourage you to send a message to the Host, Mr. C. Agbontaen (ARIZONA). Let’s do it. Thank you.

I do agree with Dr. Selo-Ojeme that we do not need more than one ICCOBA website. Already we can see some input from Canada, etc.It should be that one place where we can all meet and that one medium through which we can all communicate, rather than having different sites for different regions. It would sound to me like having a family meeting but with restrictions to allowing certain members of the family who care to attend and give their input.

Isn’t it amazing that technology can make our world the now famous global village. I stumbled into this website this morning via google. Don’t know what I was thinking when I typed in ICCOBA, but sure glad I did. Not to get too verbose here, I just want to congratulate each and every one of us for the success of this site. I also want to find out where Mr. & Mrs. John are now, and what their e-mail address is. Hey, Mr & Mrs. V.J. John, if you are reading this, this is Toju Nanna of class 80. I believe you would remember me, if not for my struggles with biology in which I made an A in the end, but at least for my singing and my supposed excellence in French. I am here typing on my computer with my son watching and wondering why I am so hyper and excited. Well, memories don’t come easy on everyone, but ICC’s will always be remarkable! I want to personally thank Mr. Tunde Obazee for the creation of this website. And want to also thank Mr. Cyril Agbontaen and Major Cletus Obahor for all the support they rendered to him in his effort. I stumbled into the site by sheer accident while doing a search on a completely different subject and for the past couple of hours have been totally engrossed in it. It has been like some sort of therapy just going through the components, retrospectively. I noticed that the developers of the site weren’t identified but later found the brains behind it. I felt that it was worth mentioning because they have done us all a great favor. Something like this has been long overdue. Fellows, there is another major development at ICC in Benin City worth mentioning. The ICCOBA ’72 set has built a bore-hole at the school. We all need to thank Mr. Osakue Agbontaen in particular and other members of the class of ’72(Benin) in general for making that happen. The last I heard of their upcoming project at the school is the construction of water system toilet facilities. Mr. Omo Irabor, take heart, Mr Ayo Alonge whom I spoke with last night would be updating his information on the site shortly. It was nice to hear from you and look forward to more of that. Want to again thank Mr Cyril Agbontaen for the positive influence he had on me while he coached us at ICC at the soccer field and for the tape you sent to Osakue in 1974. He shared playing all those music of Janis Joplin with me. We played that cassette to death. That’s just a rap, gentlemen, I just feel like break-dancing over the creation of this website. Thanks Tunde.

Great Site for GREAT ICCOBITES! My very high commendations to this initiative and everyone that has contributed to it. The first time I visited the website, I added it to my “Favorites”. I have not been able to resist visiting the site every day. Guess what… I want to “…be the first to know” that my name has been posted on Members’ List. My suggestions: 1/ It will be a great idea to maintain one website (this one) for ALL ICCOBITES and BRANCHES the world over. One forum, common mission/vision etc. Don’t call it USA site, but “ICCOBA WORLDWIDE”. After all Americans call country event/sport ‘worldwide’ event… 2/ Present National Executive (in Benin City)to be maintained as Worldwide Executive with Vice Presidents & Secretaries in America, Canada, Europe and elsewhere. 3/ Please, include a colunm for student Id No. (mine is 2794) on members’ list. Alternatively we put our Id No. in brackets immediately after our names. I like to thank all oldboys for signing on to this Unity of Purpose. Engr. Subject: Excellent job on the website!

Dear Respected Members of ICCOBA: Our website is terrific! Great job, EVERYONE! Should we put our ICCOBA founding date in Kansas City–July 19, 2003 on the website, and delete the redundant Immaculate Conception College Old Boys Association in scripts under our badge on the website? My reasoning is that ICCOBA was voted on, and started in Kansas City on July 19, 2003. Therefore, that is the date of ICCOBA (USA)’s birth. If we put the date Immaculate Conception College was founded as we had discussed in New Jersey, here are my concerns with that: 1.) We are ICCOBA (USA). Therefore, our date should reflect our group. 2.) We are not representative of any other ICCOBA group anywhere in the globe–Benin City, Lagos, or where have you. If we are just going with the school logo alone, then my argument is baseless. However, we may want to correct the redundancy with a date–ICC founding date, or ICCOBA (USA)founding date–July 19, 2003. Gentlemen, what will it be? “Viva ICCOBA!” Sincerely, Peter E. Uwagie-Ero

Our REPORT on the Missouri gathering where ICCOBA (U.S.A. Brach) was “VOTED” upon, and formed shows that Mr. Cletus O. Obahor (Retired Major), “PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY” for the inception of ICCOBA (U.S.A. Branch). Other people or groups may have discussed forming an Immaculate Conception College Old Boys Association, but this became “THE” opportunity by virtue of the vote, as far as I am concerned. It is necessary to set the records straight because my posting about Mr. Obahor’s vision “‘IN’ FORMING ICCOBA,” not “BY” forming ICCOBA has generated a discussion. That is the beauty of a forum, and a democracy. If I may ask a rhetorical question, “Who is responsible for the finished product and constant update of Immaculate Conception College Old Boys’ list?” I am aware that it is a collaborative effort, but we should ALWAYS give credit where credit is due. Sincerely, Peter E. Uwagie-Ero

I am responding to your request after visiting the website of ICCOBA twice within the last 48 hours. Well that should not surprise you guys since I am an old boy too. I was there between 1968 and 1972 and belong to the 1972 class. First, let me thank you for developing this website. Intact, I only got to know about it on Sunday during the monthly meeting of the Warri branch of ICCOBA held in my house in Effurun.

For now, it would appear that the website is only for ICCOBA members in the US and Canada. I ran thro your membership list and not even the current national officers of ICCOBA like Dr E J S Uujamhan ( President) and Hon Victor Osarenren ( Secretary-General) were included. Even those in Europe were not included. There is an obvious need for the membership list to be updated.

From the list of your members, I can still recognize the names of senior and distinguished old boys like Cyril Agbontaen aka Arizona, who was a star athlete in his time, Dr Frank Ogbahon the New York based Physiotherapist, and Dr Victor Odife, the Mathematician, who was my senior colleague at the now defunct College of Education Abraka before he relocated to the US in the early 80s. I did not see the names of Oghogho Ayo Alonge and Edwin Woghiren my classmates among others in the list, but recognized that of Osamudiamen Oviasu another member of the 1972 class.

Perhaps you are not aware yet, that our beloved alma mater has finally been returned to the Catholic Church. His Grace Archbishop Patrick Ekpu OFR has swung into action by appointing a new Principal to take charge of affairs. He is the Very Rev Fr Isaac P. Ebeigbe Ph.d who was until recently the Principal of Lumen Christi Secondary School, Uromi, the Catholic model school for boys. We can all count on Fr Isaac to turn around ICC and return it to the path of greatness within the few years. For this to be achieved, all hands must be on deck. All old boys should see this as a challenge. As part of measures to clear the augean stable, all teachers and students from ICC have been redeployed, leaving only those in JSS 1 while an advert has been placed for new teachers. The Church plans to run ICC as an all boarding school. Guess you guys are also aware that plans are on too for the Diamond jubilee celebration of ICC in December.

All the best and God bless you all

What a thrill I had to get info about this web site from my good friend Emma Omo-Irabor who is in Warri. I am in England. I have been on the site now for over 1 hour and believe me I really stopped ageing in this last hour from excitement. Well done to all you guys who had the vision and who made this site see the light of day!!. It is a dream. Just a comment on ‘ICCOBA USA’ or ‘ICCOBA X date’etc. I believe that we cannot have more than one ICCOBA web site. This site should be THE ONLY site that should unite us globally. It should be able to meet all our needs. Different fora for different groups/sets could exist within this site. While recognition should be given to the guys in the USA, any living (and for that matter, the good soul of the dead) ICCOBITE should be accommodated. We now live in a global village devoid of material boundries – thru the wonders of IT. All the members of the different local, national and internatioanl braches should be encouraged to sign up to this web site. To prevent unwarranted scrutiny from Non ICCOBITEs(e.g. those small boys from Edo College)should we have pass words? Well done you lot!!

We also admire and wish to identify with your noble upbringing and sense of humility which you recorded in the book. We strongly recommend it as a-must-read for all Nigerians. We will, in our humble way, join in bringing the rich contents of the Book to the reach of many by purchasing five (5) copies for N50,000.00 (Fifty thousand Naira only). 3. We humbly join your legion of admirers to acknowledge your positive contributions to the reign of peace and tranquility in Edo land in particular and Nigeria in general. We pray God Almighty to grant you long life and good health so that we can continue to benefit from your wise counsel. 4. May we also use this opportunity to intimate your Majesty that our alma mater, Immaculate Conception College Benin City is 60 years this year. This also coincides with the year that government in her infinite wisdom, handed back the school to her rightful owners. You will agree with us that this calls for celebrations because in these 60 glorious years, the School achieved excellence and fulfilled the dreams of its founding fathers. With all modesty and humility Your Majesty, we are very proud to say that ICC Old Boys are among the most distinguished and respected gentlemen in our country today. These are gentlemen that have been groomed to be faithful to God and their country – Semper et ubique fidelis. The hand of the Palace has been in all these glowing achievements not only because many members of the royal family passed through the College, but also because his Majesty is a Patron of ICCOBA. May we add that the Oba Akenzua II Hall in ICC, named after Oba Akenzua II of blessed memory, is among the best assembly halls in any secondary school in Edo Sate. This is the only structure that was not substantially vandalized amongst all other buildings in the school. 5. We the Old Boys have therefore lined up a series of activities to celebrate this landmark Anniversary from the 18th to 21st November, 2004. Your royal Majesty is the Royal Father of the day on each of the five days. We pray that Your Majesty will avail us his royal presence during these celebrations. 6. It is with joy we humbly and formally invite Your Majesty, to the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of our alma mater, the Immaculate Conception College, Benin City. 7. We thank you Sir, for your privileged audience. Oba gha to Okpere, Ise! Engr. Dr. E.J.S. Uujamhan, PhD, fnse National President, ICCOBA AN ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE ICCOBA NATIONAL PRESIDENT, ENGR. DR. E.J.S. UUJAMHAN ON THE OCCASION OF ICCOBA COURTESY CALL ON ARCH BISHOP P.E. EKPU, CFR ON 05/10/04 We members of Immaculate Conception College, Benin Old Boys’ Association, ICCOBA are here to heartily felicitate with you, our Archbishop, on the recent decision of the Edo State Government to return our alma mater to the Mission in the year that the school turns 60 years. 2. The return of the school to its original Proprietor has been a long-standing demand of the Old Boys. We have been very much concerned about the sad situation of decay and decline into which I.C.C. had gradually sunk under the proprietorship of successive State Governments, and yearned for the day the school would return to its past glory. Six weeks ago, when the school was physically handed over, it was a sorry sight. Every building was in dilapidated state, windows and doors broken, roofs leaking in several places, books, chemicals, benches were looted, several paths for cult activities were discovered, the five hundred books, microscopes, table tennis boards and other equipment donated by Old Boys were nowhere to be found. Worse still, the Library that was built by Old Boys some years ago, was left to rot away. We are grateful to Almighty God for the opportunity to realize our dream for our old school, under the guidance and direction of the new owner, His Grace, the Arch Bishop of Benin City. 3. For a start, Your Grace, we wish to appreciate and applaud the several positive steps you have initiated towards the revival of I.C.C:  the assignment of an experienced and capable school administrator to the school as Principal, in the person of Rev. Fr. Isaac Prest Ebeigbe  the establishment of a Steering Committee of eminent persons to coordinate the plans for the immediate re-opening of the school under its new management and  your allocation of substantial funds for the commencement of urgent rehabilitation and renovation work currently going on at the school. Your Grace, we arranged to hold our October monthly meeting at the school compound on the 3rd of October, 2004 and were kindly taken on a guided tour of inspection of facilities in the school by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Isaac Prest Ebeigbe. We were marveled at the remarkable progress of the on-going rehabilitation and renovation work at the school. We congratulate Your Grace, the Principal and the school Management, and will extend every support we can, to the smooth take-off of the school. 4. Towards our collective commitment to developing this school, the Old Boys have already advanced money for the renovation of the Murtala Mohammed Way side fencing, and part of the fence by the moat side of the school. The entrance gate has just been completed and renovation of the gatehouse is on-going. The concrete bridge is being raised, repositioned and renovated to meet the reality of the time. We look forward to being able to assist with the renovation of Mulumba House, which is the only House awaiting renovation. You may wish to recall that we had earlier sunk a borehole with overhead tank, which is now the main source of water for school use. 5. Your Grace, the new I.C.C. has to be a model school without the word: “model”. The new I.C.C. cannot just be one of those schools in Benin City or Edo State. The new I.C.C. has to be well planned, well equipped, with well-paid and well-motivated experienced staff, to give their time and talents, but has to also charge commensurate fees to match such standards. The new I.C.C. has to rank higher than the old King’s and Queen’s Colleges, or the new Loyola Jesuits. However, the new I.C.C. must be guided by its long-standing motto: “Train a boy in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it” (Prov. 22:6). We are this bold Your Grace, to raise our dreams this high because we know these are your own dreams, for you sent the present Principal of I.C.C. Rev. Fr. Isaac Prest Ebeigbe to the best Education school in USA where the motto is: “The best or never”. 6. We thank you for considering a number of our Old Boys competent on their own merit, to serve on the Steering Committee. Engr. Dr. E.J.S. Uujamhan, who is one of them, is currently the National President of our Old Boys’ Association. Dr. Felix Ogbeide, another Old Boy on the Committee is the current Benin Branch President of our Association. Prof. Raymond Elaho is the third I.C.C. Old Boy on the Committee. We are honoured by Your Grace’s confidence in their abilities to contribute to the work of re-establishing our former College. We only wish to observe that despite their undoubted individual merits, these eminent Old Boys are not officially representing our Association as a body, being your personal nominees. Should you ask us officially to send you names, we assure you that we will write to confirm that these are our official nominees, in addition to a few others that you may like us to include to serve in different Sub-committees. 7. May we also use this opportunity to intimate Your Grace that our alma mater, Immaculate Conception College Benin City is 60 years this year. This also coincides with the year that government in her infinite wisdom, handed back the school to her rightful owners. You will agree with us that this calls for celebrations because in these 60 years, the School achieved excellence and fulfilled the dreams of its founding fathers. With all modesty and humility Your Grace, we are very proud to say that ICC Old Boys are among the most distinguished and respected gentlemen in our country today. These are gentlemen that have been groomed to be faithful to God and their country – Semper et ubique fidelis – always and everywhere be faithful. 8. We the Old Boys have therefore lined up a series of activities to celebrate this landmark Anniversary from the 18th to 21st November, 2004. We pray that Your Grace will avail us his graceful presence during these celebrations. Many Old Boys shall, as part of our home coming, spend the full night of the 18th of November in the school, with our beds and of course, a burnfire to mark the occasion. We invite you as an Old Boy and Proprietor, to share in the evening. 9. We wish to assure you that we are eager to contribute our quota, collectively and individually, towards the revival of the past glory and reputation of I.C.C, and it is our fervent wish that Your Grace will always afford us the opportunity to be of immense assistance. 10. We wish Your Grace the special blessings of our Mother Mary of the Immaculate Conception, the Patron Saint of our College, in all that you do! Engr. Dr. E.J.S. Uujamhan, PhD, fnse National President, ICCOBA

Dear Fellow-ICCOBITES: While we are giving honour to whom honour is due, let us not forget Pa (Mr.) Augustine O. Emumwen, our retired Vice Principal/Senior Tutor, and Princess (Mrs.) Katherine Oronsaye who was the Chair of Immaculate Conception Board of Trustees for many years until her voluntary retirement in 1999. Both of them have helped to mold and shape us for our various positions in our society and the world today! It gives me great pleasure to see the result of the “little seed” that WE planted in Missouri last year before the wedding of retired Major Obahor’s daughter–the inception of ICCOBA! I am particularly grateful to Dr. Frank Ogbahon for reminding us of the democratic process when WE formed ICCOBA in Missouri. He moved that we should show our resolution by vote. “Frank, I salute you!” Dr. Harris O. Enabulele, the core values you wrote for ICCOBA could not have been better written. Also, your assiduous work in chairing the Constitution Committee for ICCOBA (USA Chapter) is equally laudable! Dr. Stephen I.N. Ekunwe, Mr. Cyril E. Agbontaen, Dr. Harris O. Enabulele, and Mr. Cletus O. Obahor who accepted our interim appointments as “Care-taker Committee members” have brought us a long way. Gentlemen, I salute you for leading ICCOBA this far! Oh!, Mr. Obazee, our Website Master, “More is thy due than more than all can pay!” We see the beauty of your work, and admire your deftness every time we browse our website. “Thank you!” Their inculcation and policies have ingrained the ICCOBA love and respect in ALL of us. I enjoyed the love from Colonel (Ret.) Aaron I. Obakpee, Honorable Justice Irobun Edokpayi of the Benin High Court, Engr. Imafidon Osarenkhoe when I went home to bury my Dad in September 2004. Please let us maintain this oneness of ICCOBA. We were in different houses in our college days, but we pull the same rope–like children born of the same mother in a large family!” In closing, let us forever remember late Rev. Fr. Joseph Donnelly in our prayers. “May his soul, and the souls of ALL the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace! Amen!” Sincerely, Peter E. Uwagie-Ero
