ICCOBA USA & CANADA
SPEECH AT OFOEGBU BURIAL CEREMONY
Rev. Dr. Cyril Ikechukwu Ofoegbu
John 14:1-3 (NIV)
“Let not your heart be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where
I am”
On Behalf of the President, Vice president, the executive team and all the members of ICC Old Boys Association in the United States of America and Canada, we wish to offer our sincere condolences to;
Arch Bishop of Benin Archdiocese, his grace, MOST REV. DR. AUGUSTIN E OBIORA AKUBEZE, the entire Catholic priesthood of the metropolitan see of Benin city, the entire management staff and teachers, parents, past and present students of immaculate conception college, Benin city.
You are constantly in our thoughts and we will continue to pray on one accord for you. God Bless you and may you live in peace.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those
who love Him….”
The Very Rev. Dr. Cyril Ikechukwu Ofoegbu was God sent to ICC. God loves ICC community members and we love GOD. The Rev. Dr. Ofoegbu clearly understood and had the leadership character to transform ICC to its current status. The ICC community members in the United States will truly miss Rev. Dr. Ofoegbu. We saw his work from afar but we understood and appreciated it. The output for any educational institution is the academic excellence of the students. However without the input, such as, having a visionary leader, leadership development of teachers, valuing human resources, availability of materials, resources and supplies, interpersonal relationship with parents, staff, students, alumni and the archdiocese the institution will not be effective in the quest to achieve its vision and mission. Rev. Dr. Ofoegbu possessed the input qualities mentioned and knew how to effectively implement them to improve Immaculate Conception College.
Communicating and listening effectively is one of Rev. Dr. Ikechukwu Ofoegbu most cherished many qualities. ICC Old Boys Association in the USA has been able to work cooperatively with the Rev. Dr. Ofoegbu in many ways. He spoke regularly with ICCOBA USA leadership on ways to develop rigorous and relevant curriculum; and a high quality of instruction and assessment that will prepare ICC students for a successful school experience and after school life. He knew the importance of On-Line Learning and the use of other technology. We appreciated his sincerity and willingness to engage us in his work to improve ICC. Our cooperative work together led to the building of a computer lab, making donation to the fund to build the new cafeteria and providing other resources such as generators for ICC. His willingness to work with ICCOBA USA and Canada made those efforts possible and made it easier for us to be of assistance. Rev. Dr. Ofoegbu clearly knew what his students and staff needed and how to improve students’ academic performance. He will surely be missed by ICC Old Boys Association in the United States and Canada.
Mathew 11:28
“Come on to me all ye that labour
And are heavy laden and I will give you rest”
May Rev. Dr. Cyril Ikechukwu Ofoegbu soul rest in peace.
